Unlike KLIA's two-terminal split, Penang International Airport operates a single integrated terminal, so international arrivals from every route funnel through one immigration hall. Signage directs arriving passengers from the aerobridge or apron straight to the immigration queue, split between manned counters and autogate lanes where available.

Because Penang is a smaller airport than KLIA, the immigration hall has fewer total counters — this is rarely an issue outside of peak arrival banks (typically early evening, when several regional flights land in a short window), but it's worth building in slightly more buffer time if your onward transport is tightly scheduled.

Your pre-submitted MDAC is looked up by passport number exactly the same way here as at KLIA or any other entry point — there's no separate Penang-specific submission or process. From the arrivals hall, options into George Town include metered airport taxis (coupon system at a counter inside arrivals), ride-hailing apps like Grab (pickup zones are clearly marked outside), and the Rapid Penang bus network (route 401E is the most common airport-to-city service), which is the most budget option but takes longer and involves waiting at a scheduled stop. Journey time to central George Town is typically 20–25 minutes by car, longer by bus depending on traffic and stops.
